Thornton le Dale has a wonderful quaint and nostalgic feel. It is home to the famous ‘Thatched Cottage’ and has a small green with an ancient market cross and stocks.

Thornton Beck is a small stream which runs through the village and under the railway property. There is also a wide variety of wildlife including kingfishers, herons and the many ducks that swim the beck and spend their days paddling around the village duck pond.

The village centre is a level half mile walk away, either along Maltongate, passing by the wonderful cottages and beck or through the woodland.

In Thornton le Dale itself you will find two public houses both serving freshly cooked meals, a fish and chip shop, butcher, two bakers, several tea rooms, gift shops and not forgetting the fantastic Brandysnap Bistro. The village also has it's own Post Office, Chemist, mini supermarket and Newsagents, everything you could need.........

Thornton le Dale is also home to Mathewsons Classic Cars as seen on the Sky TV shows, Bangers & Cash and Bangers & Cash - Restoring Classics

There are excellent local bus services that can take you as far as the city of York, the market town of Helmsley or to the seaside resorts of Whitby & Scarborough.

Of course Pickering is only 4 miles away and has a range of banks, shops and a supermarket not to mention the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which runs up through ‘Heartbeat Country’ and beyond.
